Honeymooning on The Spice Island | Sandals La Source Grenada
By LaRae Walker
When choosing a honeymoon destination, the options are endless. Does touring a bit of Europe sound exciting to you or do you want to park yourself on a beach and enjoy the sand and the sun? Do you want an all-inclusive resort or do you want the freedom to go to a few destinations? Do you want to immerse yourself in a new culture? Do you want to have an amazing culinary experience? These are all important questions to ask when you’re choosing the right adventure for you.
My husband and I knew we wanted an all-inclusive resort, to go somewhere that none of our family & friends had honeymooned before and above all, we wanted to indulge in delicious cuisine. With ten restaurants, Sandals La Source Grenada seemed like the perfect fit for us.
Italian, Caribbean, French, Mediterranean, Oriental, Japanese and English is where the culinary experience begins at Sandals La Source. From decedent desserts lining the display case in
Café de Paris to the freshly prepared teriyaki steak tossed into your mouth by the flat-top grill chef at Kimono’s, each restaurant brings its own unique experience to your vacation.
One restaurant that quickly became our favorite was Cucina Romano. With Italian landscapes pictured along the walls, soft candlelight illuminating the room and enticing aromas coming from the kitchen, you can’t help but feel like you stepped into Italy. The food served was phenomenal and was the best Italian I’ve had outside of Italy itself. I highly recommend ordering the Arancino di Rosa for an appetizer—a fried meat and cheese stuffed rice ball covered in a tomato cream sauce. I promise you, you won’t regret this dish. It was so good my husband and I ordered more for dessert!
Another restaurant we enjoyed was Soy. To be honest, this was my first sushi experience and I was a bit nervous, but I’m so thankful my husband convinced me to try it. Soy is perfect for lite appetizers before heading to dinner at another restaurant. We were seated at the bar, which was fabulous because we were able to watch the chefs prepare the sushi right in front of us. What a work of art! The sushi was delicious and I definitely recommend ordering their drink special with your sushi—usually includes Sake as an ingredient, a Japanese rice wine.
Sandals La Source Grenada as a whole was an amazing resort. The friendly staff, immaculate grounds and beautiful water are just a few reasons La Source is a great choice for a Southern Caribbean honeymoon. If I had one regret it would be not having the opportunity to visit the town of Grenada and experiencing the local culture. I guess that means I’ll have to go back!
